February 9, 2011   11:01 am

All government schools in the Badulla District will be closed tomorrow and the day after (February 10 and 11) in view of the disaster situation that has arisen following the heavy rains in the area, Uva Province Education Secretary Anil Wijesiri stated.

The decision has been taken to close all schools in the area because groups of displaced families are still being given shelter within the schools while the weather conditions have rendered some roads unusable. He further stated that all schools will be reopened next Monday (February 14).
