The current government party, which raised objections towards restructuring the CPC during the UNP regime, has no moral right to sell the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation cheaply, says Gayantha Karunathilaka.

During a conference called by the Minister in charge it had been announced that a decision had been made to sell the Petroleum Corporation, he claimed.

The Minister had declared at that discussion that 107 filling stations given to the CPC by the treasury as well as 33% of shares will also be privatized, Gayantha said during a press briefing today (February 14).

When the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) was restructured during the UNP government its entire ownership was kept under the corporation’s control itself, the United National Party media spokesman pointed out.
