Special traffic plan in Colombo today for Sri Lanka–New Zealand World Cup clash

A special traffic plan will be in place today in view of tomorrow’s World Cup T20 encounter between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in Colombo.

The match is scheduled to get underway at 7.00 p.m. at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

With a large crowd expected to attend the fixture, police said special traffic arrangements will be implemented in and around the stadium to manage congestion and ensure public safety.
Accordingly, authorities have urged motorists to use alternative routes where possible and comply with traffic instructions issued during the event.

Roads subject to restrictions in view of the World Cup encounter as follows;

  • Vincent Perera Mawatha
  • Britto Babapulle Place
  • Sebastian Canal Road
  • 100-foot Road, Temple Road
  • Sri Bodhiraja Mawatha
  • Maligawatte Lane and Jumma Masjid Road
  • Saddharma Mawatha

Meanwhile, police said designated parking areas have also been assigned:

  • R Premadasa Stadium car park
  • Grandpass Mati Park car park
  • Sathosa car park
  • Sebastian Canal Road
  • Applewatte
  • Kovil Road
  • Both sides of 100-foot road

Additionally, Intelligence Officers and police officers in civilian attire will be deployed within and around the stadium premises to enhance public safety.
