Two Lankans die while trekking in India

Two Sri Lankan died while trekking in the hills in Bihar’s Gaya and Nalanda districts in India today, official sources said.


Sixty-one-year-old woman tourist Widanapathi Rananawati collapsed and died when she was trekking in Ghumgeshwari hill in Gaya district, sources said.

 


Wrnudiya Nfelage (76), another Sri Lankan tourist, also died following breathlessness while trekking in the Gidhkut hill at Rajgirh in adjoining Nalanda district, the police said.

 


The bodies were brought to Indian Mahabodhi Society here.

 


The district authorities have approached Sri Lankan High Commission and their relatives to take back the bodies.

 


They were part of a 50-member team of Sri Lankan tourists currently touring Buddhist pilgrim centres in India, PTI reports.
