Fisheries Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar today (05) urged all Sri Lankan fishermen not to venture into sea areas beyond Sri Lanka’s maritime borders, considering the current situation in both local and international waters.

He made this request while expressing his views in Parliament today (05) regarding the Iranian warship that was reportedly sunk following a US submarine’s torpedo attack, as well as another Iranian vessel currently stationed in Sri Lankan waters.

The Minister stated that the Government has a responsibility to ensure the safety of fishermen, therefore, he requested all fishermen not to violate Sri Lanka’s maritime borders by venturing into the other maritime territories.
