204 crew members of Iranian ship ‘IRIS Bushehr’ brought to Colombo Port: SL Navy

A total of 204 crew members of the Iranian navy vessel ‘IRIS Bushehr’, near Sri Lanka’s territorial waters, have been safely evacuated by the Sri Lanka Navy and brought to the Colombo Port, according to the Sri Lanka Navy.
The rescued crew members were subsequently brought to the Colombo Port following the successful evacuation operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy, the Navy Spokesman said.
Issuing a special statement on the incident yesterday (5), President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that steps are also being taken to tow the vessel to the Trincomalee Port.
The President further noted that the vessel carries a total crew of 208, and they are being transported to the Welisara Naval Base.
Accordingly, their registration, medical examinations, and provision of food will be facilitated at the Welisara Naval Base.
The crew of ‘IRIS Bushehr’ consists of 53 officers, 54 cadet officers, 48 senior ratings, and 23 junior sailors.
