Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals in 2026 surpass 700,000

The number of tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka in 2026 has crossed the 700,000-mark, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) stated.

According to the latest data release by the SLTDA, a total of 708,348 tourists visited Sri Lanka between January 01 and March 25, 2026.

Among them, 139,164 individuals are from India, 74,295 from the UK and 63,505 from Russia, the SLTDA noted.

Meanwhile, 151,693 tourists have arrived in the country in the first 25 days of March.

According to the SLTDA, a total of 39,424 tourists have arrived from India which accounts to 26.0%. Furthermore, 13,967 persons from the United Kingdom, 13,272 from Russia, 12,166 from China and 10,523 German nationals have also visited Sri Lanka in the month of March.

In March 2025, a total of 229,298 tourists visited Sri Lanka.
