Special committee appointed to monitor and manage drinking water shortage

A special operations committee has been appointed to monitor and manage the ongoing drinking water shortage by the Chairman and General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

The move comes in response to rapidly depleting water sources caused by the prevailing dry weather and the reduction in production capacity. The committee, composed of relevant officials, is tasked with overseeing water distribution, as well as ensuring effective management of limited resources.

The committee will continuously monitor existing water sources, production capacities, and supply patterns, the Water Board said in a statement. Daily and weekly reviews will be conducted within designated timeframes to assess conditions and address emerging issues.

The Water Board has stated that the committee aims to submit management reports, coordinate between relevant sectors, and ensure an adequate water supply to the public.

Through the initiative, measures will be implemented to prevent prolonged daily water interruptions, manage and distribute water efficiently to meet consumer needs and maintain operations until depleted water sources return to normal levels.

The Water Board further emphasized the importance of public cooperation in using water only for essential activities during this period. This is critical to prevent severe inconvenience to consumers, maintain minimum service levels and preserve water resources until the situation improves, according to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
