The strike initiated by the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) continues today (05).
The strike was launched by the GMOA over various demands including against the alleged politicization of the doctors’ transfer process.
Accordingly, the GMOA has decided that the strike will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. today at all hospitals nationwide.
However, Secretary of the GMOA, Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa, stated that the strike will not affect maternity hospitals, children’s hospitals, the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, specialized kidney units, tri-forces hospitals, and the National Institute of Mental Health.
He further added that the union’s executive committee will meet today to decide on the next course of action.
