VIDEO: Green and red flags do not belong in Kelaniya - Mervyn

March 2, 2011   01:44 pm

Minister of Public Relations and Public Affairs, Mervyn Silva said that he had brought down all the red and green flags in the Kelaniya District and sent them to their designated places in respect of the religions they represent.

He stated that blue was the colour of the God Vishnu before it became the colour of the SLFP and because Vishnu was at work in Kelaniya it was suitable for the blue flags to be hung. However, he further added that since the colour Red represents the Katharagama deity the red flags have been sent to Katharagama while the green flags have been sent to the Mosque.
