Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the island after 1:00 p.m., the Department of Meteorology stated.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and in the Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Showers may occur in the Batticaloa, Ampara and Hambantota districts during the morning hours, the Met. Department added.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Uva provinces and in the Vavuniya and Kurunegala districts during the early hours of the morning.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
