LTTE suspects refused bail

March 4, 2011   10:23 am

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has refused to grant bail to 17 L.T.T.E suspects who had been arrested while attempting to flee the country in a multi-day fishing trawler.

The attorneys representing the suspects had requested that they be released on bail when they were presented to court by the CID yesterday (March 3).

However, the Criminal Investigations Department stated that investigations regarding the suspects were incomplete. Therefore the court rejected their bail appeal and ordered that they be kept in remand custody until March 17.
