Forge links with diaspora in Canada - Bruce Levy

High Commissioner of Canada, Bruce Levy, had met with the government Agents of Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi during his visit to the north earlier in the week. He had also met Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Jaffna Security Forces Commander and representatives of the civil society.
Among the topics discussed were the damage done to the people and property during the recent floods and the ability of the affected to resume normal livelihoods. The High Commissioner had mentioned that forging links with diaspora will help in the rebuilding and reconstruction process, a release by the High Commission stated.
He had added that most of the diaspora still has family members in Sri Lanka and therefore are following with interest the happenings and hoped that effective ways could be found to involve the large diaspora in Canada.
The High Commissioner touched on the topic of political reconciliation discussions between Government and TNA delegations and expressed that time is also vital to the fruitful outcome to the process.
He also used the opportunity to meet with various Non-Governmental and International Non-Governmental Organizations that operate in the area.
