Sri Lanka for the first time appoints representative to Palestine equivalent to an Ambassador

For the first time, a new representative from Sri Lanka, equivalent to an Ambassador, has been appointed to Palestine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Accordingly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath appointed M. Fauser as the Sri Lankan representative in Palestine.
Meanwhile, a cordial discussion was held between Minister Vijitha Herath and Fauser this afternoon, the Ministry noted.
Fauser pointed out that Sri Lanka has always been a close friend of Palestine and that it is his hope to work in Palestine during his term in office, in line with the position of the Sri Lankan government. Fauser also served as the Secretary of the Palestine Solidarity Committee of Sri Lanka for a long time.
Following the discussion, Minister Vijitha Herath congratulated Fauser for successfully carrying out his duties. M. Fauser is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka today (04) to commence his duties, the Foreign Ministry added.
