Galle shooting victim succumbs to injuries

The person injured in the shooting incident in the Dickson Junction area of Dangedara, Galle, has succumbed to his injuries.

 

A shooting incident was reported this morning (12) in the Dickson Junction area of Dangedara, Galle.

 

According to the Police, the victim was shot by an assailant who arrived in a car and was later admitted to the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya for treatment.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 43-year-old resident of the Welhengoda area in Ahangama. Police stated that he was engaged in a money-lending business.

 

Preliminary investigations suggest that the killing may have been carried out over a financial dispute. 

 

Police further revealed that the victim had been temporarily residing in a house in the Dangedara area of Galle for approximately six months.

 

The victim, who sustained critical injuries in the shooting, later died after admission to hospital. 

 

The suspects fled the scene following the incident, said police.

 

Galle Police have launched a special investigation to recover the firearm used in the shooting and to apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.
