Pakistan lose to a rampant Kiwi side by 110 runs

Pakistan lost by 110 runs after they were bowled out for 192 by New Zealand in their World Cup encounter played at Pallekele. Ross Taylor was the star of the match as he scored an unbeaten 131 off 124 balls to take the Kiwis to 302 runs in their fifty overs.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat but Pakistan managed to restrict the flow of runs initially with Umar Gul picking up three wickets for 32 runs. Pakistan looked certain to restrict New Zealand to around 230 but after a devastating batting performance at the death where the Blackcaps managed 100 off 29 balls, a competitive total of 302 was set.

A deflated Pakistan team posed little threat with the bat losing wickets at regular intervals and capitulating at 192 runs. Abdul Razzaq showed a little sprit scoring 62 but couldn’t steer his side to a win as Tim Southee bowled a brilliant spell picking up 3 wickets for just 25 runs in 8 overs. Kyle Mills, Scott Styris and Nathan McCullum picked up two wickets each.
