SALEM: A group of fans of actor Vijay caused a flutter on Tuesday when they went around the city removing posters on walls, which showed the actor with AIADMK Chief Jayalalithaa and DMDK leader Vijayakant seeking votes for the AIADMK-DMDK combine in the forthcoming Assembly polls.

These multi-coloured posters with actor Vijay, flanked by Jayalalithaa and Vijayakant, asking the Salem people to vote for the AIADMK alliance had sprung up at various points in the city this morning. Vijay was seen flashing the symbol of ‘Two Leaves.’ Photographs of a few Salem-based AIADMK cadres and actor’s father cum Director Chandrasekar were also printed in the name of ‘Salem Guhai Vijay Makkal Mandram’. The posters, the functionaries of Vijay Fans Club here claimed were unauthorised.

“As Vijay has not officially announced any decision on the polls, some miscreants have indulged in such acts, which are highly condemnable,” said a senior functionary, reports The Hindu.

He added that with instructions from the headquarters, legal action would be pursued against those who had printed and pasted such posters.

Meanwhile rumours were making rounds in the city suggesting that the actor would support the AIADMK combine since his father Chandrasekar had met Jayalalithaa recently.

Vijay participated at a public meeting that condemned the attack on fishermen by Lankan Navy recently at Nagapattinam.
