Colombo’s inflation rises marginally to 5.5% in May

The overall inflation rate, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, increased marginally to 5.5% in May 2026 from 5.4% in April 2026,  according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

Food inflation declined to 0.9% in May 2026, compared to 2.8% in April 2026, while non-food inflation increased to 7.8% in May 2026 from 6.8% in April 2026.
