650 complaints over Facebook crimes - SLCERT

Around 650 complaints have been received within the past 8 months regarding various wrongdoings carried out using the social networking site Facebook, stated the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT).


It has been reported that a majority of the complaints received are concerning fake Facebook accounts.
 

Measures have already been taken in order to cancel these false accounts, says the Senior Information Security Engineer of SLCERT, Rohana Palliyaguru.


He further expressed that, several complaints have also been received of scams and frauds carried out with the use of the popular Facebook website.
