UPFA wins LG election in a landslide

The United People’s Freedom Alliance has won the 2011 Local Government election with a majority victory over 205 out of the total 234 LG bodies. Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) comes in second winning 12 while the United National Party (UNP) only managed to secure 09 LG bodies.


The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has won 04, National Congress 02, the Up-Country People’s Front (UPF) 01 while an Independent Group has secured 01 LG body.
