Six people arrested for post-election violence

Six people have been taken into custody in connection with incidents of post-election violence following the local government elections that were held on Thursday (March 17), Police Spokesman SSP Prishantha Jayakody stated.

 

Meanwhile, CAFFE has also reported that a few small incidents have been reported following the elections while winning candidates in their respective areas have been using state owned vehicles illegally.

 

Executive Director of CAFFE, Kirthi Tennakoon stated that Districts such as Matara, Galle, Kandy, Hambantota and Badulla have reported the most number of incidents of post-election violence.
