Postponed LG elections to be held shortly

Preparations are presently underway to hold the postponed elections in Local Government institutions promptly, the Election Secretariat said.
The government earlier had decided to postpone Local Government elections in 34 bodies due to the ICC World Cup. In addition the Election Commissioner opted to postpone elections in 64 LG bodied due to legal issues concerning these areas.
However it has been reported that attention has been drawn towards holding elections for these Local Government bodies in the month of May.
