India takes the World Cup

India won the ICC World Cup 2011 defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai a short while ago. Sri Lanka scored 274 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of the allotted 50 over.

 

Gautam Gambir scored 97 from 122 balls while the Indian skipper MS Dhoni made an unbeaten 91 from 79 balls.


Dohni was named the man of the match. Yuvraj Singh was adjudged the man of the tournament.
