Special transport Service for Avurudu

The Railway Department has made arrangements to deploy a special train service for the convenience of commuters travelling to their home towns from Colombo for the New Year Festival. 

 

The Commercial Superintendent of Sri Lanka Railway S. Sisira Kumara said intercity trains between Kandy and Colombo will be added with extra compartments from tomorrow (8th) to 12th this month.

 

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board is deploying special bus services with effect from today from the free trade zones of Katunayake and Biyagama, Nugegoda, Maharagama and Kiribathgoda for the convenience of the New Year travelers.  150 additional buses will be deployed in this regard.

 

The Private Bus Operators have also been given special route permits to operate additional bus services from Colombo to several destinations by the Road Transport Authority and they have also been warned against charging additional fares, the Govt. Information Department reports.
