Derailment restricts upcountry trains

A train has derailed today (April 08) morning while traveling from Nanu Oya towards Kandy. The goods transporting train had derailed between Thalawakele and Watagoda railway stations near the 116th mile post, said the Planning Director of Railways Vijaya Samarasinghe.


Due to this trains traveling in the upcountry railway route has been restricted from Colombo to Thalawakele and from Badulla to Watagoda.


However a train traveling system has been put into place for the convenience of the passengers, Vijaya Samarasinghe stated.
