The Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) says it will resort to trade union action if the government fails to provide a solution within a month to the issue regarding a salary revision for university lecturers.

The government has been presented with facts in this regard, however we have not received a proper response, spokesman for the Association Dr. Mahin Mendis expressed.

He stated that the decision had been made to once again clarify of the initial demands due to previous discussion with the government being futile.

Hence if a proper solution is not provided by May 09, heads of departments and others baring voluntary posts in universities will resign from those posts, the spokesman warned.

Furthermore if a positive stance is not depicted by the government, we will also refrain from G.C.E. O/L paper marking, he further emphasized.
