A train traveling from Colombo Fort towards Polgahawela has derailed, Planning Director of Sri Lanka Railway Wijaya Samarasinghe told Ada Derana. The train had reportedly derailed between the Kelaniya and Hunupitiya railway stations in the afternoon.

Mr. Samarasinghe stressed that workers are currently attempting to get the locomotive back on track and also that the derailment has not hindered travel in the line as there are two more tracks.
