Fill vacated posts with new lecturers, instructs UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed authorities to make new appointments for academic posts currently vacated by lecturers who have handed in resignations.


Administrative boards of all universities have been informed of this in writing, the UGC states while stressing that, even though resignations have been handed in, every lecturer has to take part in their daily routine of duties until the resignation letters are approved by the administration.


Lecturers not attending their duties and who have not received approval yet will be evicted from their posts and replaced, the UGC informes.


When Ada Derana queried the Federation of University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) President Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri in this regard he expressed that all university teachers of Sri Lanka will refrain from academic duties from tomorrow.
