The breakdowns and disunity within the United National Party cannot be sustained any longer, former UNP Parliamentarian Imtiaz Bakeer Markar expressed.

Due to this a special program will be put into operation to awaken the UNP supporters and to encourage them. As the first step of this a public seminar will be held on May 11at the National Library auditorium to address the issue, he mentioned.

The UNP is not a party of one, two or a few individuals. As it is a party of around 4 million Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim people, these rights have to be given back to the public, Markar pointed out.

Imtiaz Bakeer Markar, formerly a member of the UNP Working Committee, speaking to Ada Derana said that the accomplishment of noble party leaders the likes of DS Senanayake, Dudley Senanayake, JR Jayawardena and R Premadasa has to be won back for the supporters.

UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa, MP Ranjith Madduma-Bandara, former Vice Chairman Imtiaz Bakeer Markar and Western Provincial Councilor Shiral Lakthilaka are slated to address Wednesday’s seminar.
