Risk of landslides in several Districts, NBRO warns

According to the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) a risk of landslides currently exists in certain parts of Kalutara, Galle and Kegalle Districts.


The public in areas such as Agalawatte, Mathugama, Palinda Nuwara and Bulathsinhala in the Kalutara District are advised to remain cautious, as those areas are at risk of being affected by landslides, Head of Landslides Division of the NBRO, R.M.S. Bandara stated.


Landslides could also occur in areas in the Galle District such as Neluwa and Thawalama while Deraniyagala, Yatiyantota, Ruwanwella and Bulathkohupitiya in the Kegalle District are also at risk, he warned and requested the public in those areas to stay vigilant.
