Five arrested for illegal gem mining

Five gem miners have been arrested by police Special Task Force (STF) personnel for illicitly mining in an islet in the Castlereagh Reservoir without permits.


The suspects were apprehended while engaged in mining activities in an acre of land in the islet, belonging to the Norwood police division, Ada Derana correspondent in the area reported.


The suspects, along with the mining instruments used by them, have been handed over to the Norwood Police for further investigations.
