Several Katunayake Free Trade Zone workers are currently engaged in a protest against the proposed private pension bill. The protest is being staged by employees from two factories in the FTZ, Ada Derana reporter stated.

It is said that the protestors are demanding that the government immediately withdraw the draft bill.

Parliamentarian Sudarshani Fernandopulle and several political activists have also arrived at the location of the protest while policemen have been stationed in order to control the situation, the reporter stated.

An immense protest organized by Katunayake garment factory workers was also held recently against the pension scheme in question.
