DIG amongst 9 police officers injured in clash

A total of nine police officers including a DIG, an ASP and an OIC have been injured following clashes at the protest in Katunayake FTZ today (May 30), police media spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said.
Police had fired teargas to disperse the crowd of protesters which triggered a clash between the two parties. According to Ada Derana reporter in the area the protesters in response had pelted stoned at the policemen.
It has been reported that 15 factory workers, who had been protesting against the proposed private pension bill, were also injured in the clashes.
The injured have been admitted to the Negombo Hospital.
