Defeat of pension bill, a victory of the workers - JVP

The complete withdrawal of the draft private sector pension bill is a victory of the country’s workers as well as a massive defeat to Mahinda Rajapaks’s government, says the JVP.
What we saw was the beginning of the government’s path to defeat, Tilvin Silva expressed during a press conference today (June 05) at JVP headquarters.
“It is now evident that this government is not as strong and powerful as it is depicting to the masses.
Even though the government boasts there is nothing it cannot do, it has now been proven that the government can be brought to its knees before the organized strength of the public.” the General Secretary of the JVP said.
He mentioned that in addition to the working people, trade unions and even the private media assisted took the side of the workers and in this victory. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna extends its gratitude to all these parties, Silva added.
