The strike action that had been launched by doctors of several hospitals was called off at 12 noon today (June 07), the Government Medical Officers Association said.

GMOA secretary Dr. Bimantha Gunasekara informed that, the room belonging to the medical doctors of the Polonnaruwa General Hospital was today officially handed over to the doctors and therefore it was decided to end the strike.

The doctors had initially launched the strike in protest of the Polonnaruwa Hospital’s head nurse forcefully occupying the room belonging to the doctors.

Doctors from Anuradhapura and Kurunegala Hospitals had also joined in on the strike today morning.
