Indian actor Vijay thanked Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for passing a resolution in the Tamil Nadu Assembly unanimously demanding that India impose economic sanctions on Sri Lanka, Indian media reported.

She has said it was the only way to get the Sri Lankan government to toe the line and to ensure the safety of the Tamils.

In a press release, Vijay said, “this resolution would provide relief to several thousands of Tamils who have lost their kith and kin and their property in the island nation. I pray that in coming days, Tamils live in peace and get equal rights for a happy life”.
