Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh states that no emergency decisions regarding Sri Lanka will be taken.

He stated this in response to a question posed by a journalist at a lengthy media briefing held in New Delhi today (29).

The ‘thats Tamil’ website quoting Singh states that he will continue to closely observe the various issues related to the Tamil community in Sri Lanka and the prevalent political situation in the country.

The Prime Minister reiterated that no special action will be taken in regard to Sri Lanka and that India will adhere to the same principles governing relations between neighboring countries such as China, Pakistan and Bangladesh in dealing with Sri Lanka.
