CAA earns Rs.35m in raids and fines this year

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has earned more than Rs. 35 million through fines this year from conducting various raids around the island while it has earned more than Rs. 6 million in fines within this month alone.

 

A bulk of the fines were imposed on retailers for failing to display prices, selling products for more than the maximum retail price and the sale of expired products, the CAA stated.

 

It also stated that the primary focus has been on shops in the Colombo, Matale, Monaragala, Anuradhapura, Ampara, Puttalama, Kandy and Kalutara Districts.
