77 absconding suspects arrested in special operation

In a special search operation conducted within the Nugegoda Police limits, 77 absconding suspects against whom arrest warrants had been issued were taken into custody.


The sudden raids were carried out by Nugegoda Division intelligence officers yesterday (July 02) night covering an area of 13 police stations, and according to information uncovered during a long period.


The apprehended suspects include many who had been absconding for several years, police revealed.


The suspects will be handed over to relevant police stations and subsequently produced at court, an intelligence officer of the Nugegoda Police Division told Ada Derana.
