Dengue fever deaths rise to 93

The death toll from dengue fever this year has risen to 93, according to the Epidemiological Unit of the Ministry of Health which states that as of yesterday (July 15) approximately 11,901 cases of dengue-related symptoms have been reported.


The number of patients diagnosed with dengue in the month of July so far has escalated to 1,684 of which a majority has been reported from the Colombo District.


Taking into consideration the months passed in the year so far, June has seen the most number of dengue related cases being reported while the Health Ministry had taken steps to declare a National Dengue Control Week in that month.

 
The Ministry further requests from the public to destroy all mosquito breeding areas in order to prevent from further spread of the decease.
