UPDATE: UPFA wins LG polls; secures 45 bodies

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won the Local Government polls by securing victory in 45 bodies out of the total 65 LG bodies. Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) won 18 while Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) managed to secure 2 bodies.


Sri Lanka’s main opposition, the United National Party (UNP) and Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) however failed to secure a single LG body.
