FMCG Business a key focus area for Delmege

Delmege Distributors (Pvt) Ltd & Delmege Marketing (Pvt) Ltd, the two companies of the Delmege Consumer Sector held its Annual Sales Awards for the year 2010/2011 recently at Water’s Edge.


The Annual Sales Awards are held to recognize the top performers for each of the companies’ brands, the top performers in each geographic region and the best Sales person of the year. The occasion was graced by Mr. Nimal Perera Deputy Chairman & Managing Director of the Delmege Group and M/s Tharana Thoradeniya & Mohan Pandithage, Executive Directors of the Delmege Group.


Speaking at the event, Mr. Nimal Perera – Deputy Chairman & Managing Director of the Delmege Group went on to outline the forward plans of main board. “Our main aim is to improve the profitability of the entire group through appropriate investments. FMCG will be one of our key focus sectors and we plan to invest to drive consumer demand for our brands. We are also looking at entering new categories to drive top line & bottom line growth. Development of our human resources will be one of our key initiatives. We will initiate training & development programmes so that our employees will be better equipped to take our business forward” said Mr. Perera.


Adding on to Mr. Perera’s comments, Mr. Tharana Thoradeniya Executive Director of the Delmege Group went on to outline the brands and the new categories that the company will be focusing on in the future. “We will make the brands of the company more dominant and more visible in the market place to drive consumer demand. As we progress with our planned initiatives we will be interacting more closely with you, as all of you are the people in the frontline who directly meet our customers & consumers” said Mr. Thoradniya.


Delmege’s FMCG business had performed well during the last financial year with sales surpassing the 3.5 billion mark, a growth of 38% over the last financial year. The core brands of the company had done well surpassing the budgeted volumes. The company markets a range of well known brands, such as, Delmege Canned Fish, Motha, Milgro, Ferrero, Delmege Soya & Delmege Essences & Colouring, Lotte, Sanitarium & Delmege Tea.
