VIDEO: ‘Grease Yaka’ a myth - Police

August 4, 2011   02:58 pm

The ‘Grease Yaka’ that was allegedly menacing women is a myth and a scapegoat for other misdoings, Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakodi said today. He added that this myth mostly spreads in rural areas like Badulla and Mahiyanganaya.

Those are the areas where women mostly stay at home alone or walk alone as their husbands are in the fields, he said. SP Jayakodi claimed that certain individuals with different desires try to exploit this situation. People who want their neighbors to leave throw stones in the night to scare them and blame it on the ‘Grease Yaka’.

He claimed that most of these incidents are blown out of proportion by the media.
