Several trade unions of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board have resorted to trade union action in protest to revoking a circular that had been issued regarding promotions to engineer assistants.

Upali Ratnayake, committee member of the Diploma Engineers Association of the Water Board says that they will pull out from overtime duties and repairing services shifts today (August 6) and tomorrow, through this trade union action.

He further added that restoration of the water supply, which has been disrupted to several areas due to a damaged pipeline in Kottawa, has been delayed due to the union action.

General Manager of National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Lal Premaratne speaking to Ada Derana stated that discussions are currently underway regarding the trade union action.
