Weightlifter Vidanage banned for 4 years

Chinthana Vidanage has been banned for 4 years with effect from May 13, 2011 by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) for using banned stimulants, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Weightlifting Federation stated.

Sri Lanka’s Commonwealth Games gold medallist weightlifter Chinthana Vidanage was tested positive for methylhexaneamine at the Asian Championships.

Vidanage won the gold medal in the men’s 62 kg category weightlifting, Sri Lanka’s first weightlifting gold medal, in the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Australia.
