All private buses operating from Mannar are currently on strike due to injustice faced by private buses in transporting devotees for the Madu feast, President of the Private Bus Owner’s Association Gemunu Wijeratne said.
According to him while large numbers of devotees had waited to travel to the Madu Church, the Mannar Police had informed that devotees should only be transported in Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses.
As a result all private buses have pulled out from transport services, Wijeratne added.
