Jointly or alone, SLMC to decide today

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress is to decide today (August 19) whether the party will contest in the upcoming Local Government election alone or jointly with the ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance.

A special discussion is scheduled to be held today with the government party regarding the matter, General Secretary of the SLMC Hassan Ali told Ada Derana.

However, he added, proceeding have already commenced to select candidates who will contest in the election from the party. 

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress had contested the previous General Election under the UNP banner however later joined the ruling UPFA.
