Journalist attacked at Batticaloa Nursing College

A freelance reporter has been attacked by a violent mob inside the Batticaloa College of Nursing. The reporter had purportedly visited institution in order to cover an incident which had occurred at the college.

The attack took place at around 1.30pm today (August 19), according to the assaulted reporter who claimed that his video camera along with the cassette were snatch by the group during the incident.

The reporter said that he informed the Batticaloa Police regarding the incident who in response deployed several officers to the scene who managed to retrieve the video camera.

It is said that the Batticaloa Police are conducting further investigation into the attack.
