SLMC to contest alone and with govt.

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress says it will contest five Municipal Councils, including the Colombo Municipal Council, alone while it will contest the remainder of Local Government bodies jointly with the government.

SLMC General Secretary, Hassan Ali stated that the party has decided to contest the upcoming LG election for Colombo, Kalmunai, Galle, Kandy and Negombo Municipal Councils alone.

For the remaining Local Government institutions the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress will join the ruling government party, he said.

Hassan Ali further revealed that the party has completed interviews to select candidates for the each LG body, while preparing of nominations will be completed by tomorrow (August 21).
