President should address ‘grease devil’ issue

Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader V. Anandasangaree today said he intends to meet the President and brief him of the ‘grease devil’ menace in areas populated by the minority Tamil people including in the North and Up-country areas.

He stated that the ‘grease devil’ phenomenon has the people in several areas in the North, including Jaffna, the Hill-country and Chilaw in dire straits.

The former Member of Parliament said that Tamil political party leaders, Local Government representatives, leaders of the clergy, human rights and voluntary organizations representatives had yesterday (September 4) gathered at his residence in order to discuss the issue extensively.

We came to a conclusion on three actions in general, told Ada Derana adding that the first step as the committee established resolve this issue is to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa and brief him on the prevailing situation.

Afterwards Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MPs will explain to the Parliament tomorrow the situation of the ‘grease devil’ menace, Anandasangaree stated.

However, he added, that if the government, following these two actions, fails to consider resolving this situation as a responsibility and take appropriate measures before September 10 “we will gather all the people affected by this problem and launch a protest fast.”
